Sodom - In the Sign of Evil

Released : May 5, 1984
Genre : Thrash Metal, First - Wave Black Metal
Length : 19:12
Label : Steamhammer / SPV
Producer : Wolfgang Eichholz

First Sodom release, "In the sign of evil", a primitive sort of blackened speed metal, quite a solid German derivation of Venom, although the originality factor is something that never visited this EP. Well this is somehow enrolled in that European metal wave which featured names like Hellhammer, Bathory, earliest Kreator, Destruction or the very Venom among others: mid-80s' thrash metal with satanic or apocalyptic lyrics, often showcasing worse productions and less creativity than their American counterparts.
This 19-minute EP is just a first step into vinyl by this trio, which anyways never was a particularly exciting or great band, though they still stand like one of the greatest names of the 80s' German metal.

1. Outbreak of Evil
2. Sepulchral Voice
3. Blasphemer
4. Witching Metal
5. Burst Command Til War
